Grinder III
Duties/Responsibilities:
A Cutting Tool Specialist will handle a range of responsibilities that revolve around the manufacturing, maintenance, and optimization of cutting tools used in metalworking.
- Tool Design and Manufacturing: Creating and producing cutting
tools tailored to specific machining needs.
- Tool Reconditioning: Repairing and sharpening tools to extend
their lifespan and maintain performance.
- Quality Control: Inspecting tools for precision and ensuring they
meet industry standards.
- Machine Setup and Operation: Setting up and operating CNC
machines or other equipment to produce or recondition tools.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving issues with tools or
machining processes.
- Inventory Management: Keeping track of tool inventory and ensuring
the availability of necessary supplies.
- Collaboration: Working with engineers, machinists, and other
team members to optimize tooling solutions for specific projects.
These responsibilities require a combination of technical expertise, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to operate and setup various type of type of tool & cutter grinding machines such as surface grinders, monoset, CNC tool & cutter grinding machines and or various Manual grinding machines as well as their maintenance.
- Must have extensive knowledge of various cutting tools, (end mills, drills, form tool) and their applications, as used in machining.
- Must be able to create CNC grinding programs for manufacturing and reconditioning of various cutting tools.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading calipers, micrometers, and basic trigonometry or math skills is a must. Ability to use math to solve problems. Knowledge of GDT.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience working with common cutting tool materials.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 35 lbs. Ability to hear.
